Little Monster goes on a road trip

Little Monster joined us for a 17 hour road trip from one climate to another. She had absolutely the best seat in the car. We set up her kennel with fluffy blankets and her favorite toys & bones. Being a truly little monster she could sit, stand, stretch, turn around, nest, and lie down in all kinds of positions in her kennel. Yet all Little Monster wanted to do was be in the front seat, with us.

At one point we caved and Little Monster got to see something she had never seen before...a seemingly endless amount of trees.

The Little Monster's Worst Enemy

There is very little the Little Monster likes less than water (unless it's standing still, nicely, in her water bowl). That is why Little Monster seems to fear one weekly task above all: bath time.

Little Monster tries to avoid bath time like the plague. You would think she had watched Psycho one too many times. If she didn't have such a vendetta against water I might think she enjoyed looking like this:
How do I know she fears bathtime? Because as soon as I turn on the water in the bathtub she runs into her den (i.e. kennel). Or if I pick her up and take her to the bathtub her tail stops wagging as soon as she realizes I've taken her into the bathroom.

Then, there is the way she shakes while I bathe her, no matter how warm the water is. And she tries each time to run away from the flowing water. Finally, at the end of the all, when she finally faces me -the one who put her through it all- she looks at me like this:

The Little Monster and the Big Z's

Even though the little monster is very, well, little. that doesn't stop her from making loud noises -even in her sleep. In fact, every night (and sometimes morning!) this week I have heard her snoring.

The funny thing about the little monster snore is that she sounds very much like a big old human. When my husband snores I usually just say, "My love, you're snoring" and he will stop. However, with little monster if I say "Little Monster, you're snoring" she will wake up, ready to play. So, I must try to ignore her snores if I want to get some sleep.

Ah well, at least little monster looks super cute when she snores. You don't believe me? See for yourself:

Shhhh, don't wake the beast!

Little Monster's Sleepy Battle With the TV

Halloween was an uneventful night for the most part. We didn't have any trick or treaters or any partys. Instead, we spent the evening watching TV and munching on pumpkin cupcakes. Okay, so that's what I did. Little Monster decided to pass out. However, since it was Halloween she couldn't seem to sleep in peace, and the evening proceeded thusly:

The doorbell rang on the television and the little monster let out the longest growl I've heard her give. However, she did not seem to care enough to so much as lift her head:

By the time her growl ended, the television had moved on to another commercial with another doorbell ring. However, this one was a softer bell, but the little monster still responded with a growl...just a softer, but still long growl.

Seeing as it was Halloween, I started to smile, wondering how long this would go on. There are a lot of trick-or-treaters on Halloween commercials. However, the next commercial was a regular Wendy's commercial. Still, the monster could not rest soundly. The Wendy's commercial had a little *ding* that she still needed to respond to -with an equally short, but firm, "Gr":

At this point I actually laughed out loud. The Little Monster cared enough to growl, but not enough to actually wake up. Not once did she so much as move her little furry head. Silly dog.

The time the little monster played Goldilocks

The little monster loves to take naps, and she naps everywhere and anywhere. She loves to nap in your lap, and she'll be an even happier girl if you pet her as she drifts away to doggie dreamland. A lack of a free lap will not phase her though, and she dozes off everywhere.

One evening as bedtime neared, I went to the living room to escort my companion to her little monster kennel. To my amusement, she had found a new bed: the "Holiday Decorations" box, with a blanket on top.

I smiled to myself and snapped a picture before I accidentally awoke the beast. Then, I imagined how the little monster decided to sleep there...

Alas:
Ah, just right...zzzz.
